Striking, red-brown, gemmy and lustrous Grossular Garnets to nearly 3 cm cover the surface of a sculptural, rectangular piece of matrix from Bishop, California - a rare and old classic locality. The super lustrous, cinnamon-colored crystals have classic dodecahedral form and reflect any incident light. A few small patches of tiny, light pistachio green Diopside crystal clusters are found between the bright Garnets in a few places for added interest. This piece was collected by Ken Roberts in the 1980s and the note on his label indicates that it was the best of his find and it is pristine absolutely no damage to any of the main grossulars (though there are some incomplete crystals around the periphery.) Ex. Ken Roberts collection; his longtime core personal collection consisted of self-collected items, found over 60 years of mineral hunting around the world!
