- Melanite Garnet
- Miniature, 3.2 x 3.2 x 3.2 cm
- Unverhofft Gluck an der Achte Mine, Antonsthal, Breitenbrunn, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany
A large, well formed lustrous, black melanite garnet crystal, measuring 2.6 cm in length, is perched on a matrix composed of much smaller, green garnets. There is a bruise on the periphery but it is hidden when the specimen is properly displayed. This is a beautiful display-quality specimen formerly in the Pala Intl garnet collection of William (Bill) Larson on display in their shop for decades. It is, for a German garnet, outstanding!
