The Wah Wah Mountains in Utah have produced limited numbers of these green grossular garnets over the years, so few that most of us are simply unaware they exist at all! Two very sharp, textbook, translucent, pale green, 2.0 and 1.2 cm grossular crystals are very nicely perched on contrasting altered feldspar matrix on this particular piece. Both crystals display textbook dodecahedral forms with a satiny luster and good translucency. The color of these two grossular garnets are reminiscent of the delightful green found inside a lime. In excellent condition with only one tiny ding on the corner of the smaller crystal which is also contacted on the back side. This is a significant piece for its huge crystal size for the locality and its alluring color! From the old garnet collection of Bill Larson (owner of the Himalaya mine). In their mineral shop, The Collector in Fallbrook, CA, they had his personal collection of garnets (built since the 1970s) on display for decades, until it was sold to me around 2012. This is from that display collection, and comes with the custom base that was used at the time.
