Sharp, vivid orange crystals of spessartine garnet to 3 cm form a tight cluster, embedded in or floating in fuchsite mica, on this classic specimen from early 2000s finds on the Maasai tribal land in Tanzania. This is a rare matrix specimen, as most were floater crystals or pried out of the matrix at the time they were found by the locals, who quickly mined out and sold the material for both specimens and carving rough. It is balanced, dramatic, and glows when backlit. Complete all around!
