This is from a very special pocket of 2009 we call the Aqua-Schorl pocket, for its contrasting association and deep colors. Aesthetically centered and perched on whitish Feldspar matrix are intense blue Aquamarines highlighted by a large 3.5-cm, columnar, hexagonal crystal with exceptionally glassy luster and a gemmy termination. This main crystal is accompanied by three smaller, lovely Aquamarines with similar characteristics as the larger one. Framing the Aquas near their base are numerous, slender, contrasting, splendent, black Schorl crystals to 1 cm. For added contrast, the Aquamarine and Schorl crystals are perched on a matrix of small, slightly altered, off-white Microcline Feldspar crystals. Very tiny chips on the terminal edges of the large Aqua detract only minimally from this elegant specimen, which is a very dramatic, space-filling miniature. Such a robust crystal sitting nicely on matrix is difficult to get in this size range. Ex. Thomas Campbell collection with label.
