Calcite var. Cobaltoan
Bou Azzer Mine, Amerzgane, Ouarzazate Province, Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Cabinet, 12.0 x 6.7 x 5.9 cm
SOLD

This three-dimensional cabinet specimen of Cobaltoan Calcite from Morocco is covered with mounded, rose-pink, sparkling, translucent crystals resulting in a remarkably alluring piece! Hundreds of short, knobby, vibrant pink Cobaltoan Calcite crystals are tightly intergrown forming rough, rounded, scintillating aggregates that cover the display face of this piece. The pink color is so vibrant (a solid pink-pink but not neon-red-pink like some) that it has the hue of good Rose Quartz, better than almost any other specimen of this style I have seen. The piece is nearly pristine with just a few very minute dings and some contacting around the edges, all tolerable given the size and display quality.
