An outstanding example of the famous Barytes from Egremont, England, out of an old collection. The amber, bladed, spearpoints on this stately classic are highlighted by a dusting of Hematite included and preserved in the final stages of formation of these lustrous Baryte crystals. On the reverse side it becomes obvious that the Hematite dusting was preferential as this side is unobscured by the Hematite and the beautiful amber color resonates along with obvious growth zones and phantoms...remarkable! The red color here, combined with shape, makes it really stand out in a showcase! The large crystal measures 7.8cm tall, 7.5cm across and up to 1.6cm in thickness. A few other Baryte crystals are in parallel growth on the front of the piece exhibiting subtle relief and there are two side-car Baryte crystals jutting out at an angle from the base of the specimen to provide additional aesthetic value. There is some edge wear and a couple of small broken crystals in obscure places (bottom and rear) that don't compromise the overall aesthetics of this well-balanced old classic. Small hand-written label on the back of the piece.
