Hundreds of sparkling individual quartz spheres measure up to 6 mm across (which is larger than the majority we've seen on other specimens) make up this interesting specimen. I like the way that they increase in size from the bottom of the specimen to the top corner. The color is a medium purple with a sparkling drusy appearance. Minor damage, but in context it displays wonderfully and is a pleasing example of this fabulous new find, in a collector size. Analysis by Dr. George Rossman at Caltech concluded these should be labeled as amethyst, and not chalcedony or agate.
