Niobophyllite is an extremely rare species containing niobium and titanium, the best of which come from this incredibly interesting REE deposit. This large cabinet piece showcases a vertical spray of superb, world class crystals sprouting from a matrix of quartz and feldspar. The crystals are just under 9 cm, which may be a record for the species so far as I know, at least in any kind of aesthetic specimen. No Repairs. This is a major piece for the species! I obtained it, of all places, at the Chenzhou show in Hunan Province, from a visiting African dealer who saved it to offer me there in between th usual Tucson and Denver destinations. It was apparently mined in the spring of 2015. I have seen smaller versions, but nothing in this magnitude.
