Fluorite and Calcite
Bethel Level, Minerva #1 Mine, Cave-in-Rock, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA
Small Cabinet, 6.5 x 5.0 x 5.0 cm
Ex. Ross Lillie
Mined in the 1960's, this beautiful and dramatic combination piece is quite unusual for the stark color contrast. The Fluorites are yellow and blue, and their contrast with snow white Calcites (which are gently fluorescent) is quite engaging. The largest Fluorite and Calcite are both slightly over 3 cm. An aesthetic and quite fine combination piece from the famous Minerva #1. We have not seen another quite like it. RCL 553
