Grossular Garnet
Jeffrey Quarry, Asbestos, Quebec, Canada
Miniature, 5.3 x 4.1 x 2.8 cm
Ex. Irv Brown; Keith Proctor
This is a superb miniature showing off very large and bright grossular garnets from a locality that, sadly, is now closed. These crystals reach 2 cm in size and are intricately faceted with receding crystal planes so that you see a lot of sparkle off of the faces. The isolated nature of the crystals, combined with the diopside crystallized matrix as background, makes this a really special piece as most of these larger garnets are simply on flat and boring matrix in comparison. This piece is really all the more special now that the locality is forever closed, and these classics shoudl only go up in value over time.
