A fine, cinnamon-red cluster of sharp and dodecahedral garnet crystals from one of the most difficult to obtain garnet localities, and rare in such quality. From Alex's notes: Self-collected at an elevation of 6,214 feet mid-August 1978 with permission of lease holder, Bart Cannon (Des Hines and Gil Newman claim). Hiked to the exposed mine outcrop, otherwise accessible only by helicopter. Also, Bart gave me one of his labels at the Old Desert Inn in Tucson to claim it if I ever sold it, that he took from a small crystal he was selling for $20.00, since he and Des and Gil gave me permission to collect at the claim and couldn't believe that I hiked to the claim, rather than take a helicopter. See article on the mine in Rocks & Minerals, 66(6), 478-482, 1991. This is an extremely rare and fine example.
