A monster, HEAVY, 550-gram topaz with unusually strong color. This is a museum piece, for the size and impact, for this locality! It is not as gemmy as smaller more typical pieces, but it has really strong color to compensate! The top of the termination is asymmetric but isnot broken as it may appear'that is a contact where it grew smoothly against another crystal (quartz?) and came away cleanly. The only damage in reality is on two small corners at the top, amidst that admittedly asymmetric ridgeline. But nevertheless this is a very significant and beautiful display piece that has to be among the best large crystals found here. And, I might point out, it has not been "plasticized" by modern prep methods to fill those little gaps with plastic epoxy (which can be easily done and hard to notice) .
