This is a dramatic cluster of gemmy, rich sherry-colored Topaz crystals from the Thomas Range in Utah, of large size and stunning quality. Another excellent, self-collected piece from the Doug Wallace collection: it consists of a prominent, lustrous, saturated, sherry colored gem Topaz crystal with three other smaller Topaz crystals at the bottom of the piece. The largest crystal is 4 cm in length and 1.7 cm across displaying a perfect, steep pyramidal termination. It is so clear you can see the gray rhyolite matrix through it to the back! Two of the smaller Topaz crystals are similar in character with the larger one measuring 2.9 cm in length and the smaller 0.7 cm. The larger one is gemmy and shows some internal crazing at the termination and the smaller one has gorgeous color and is completely gem. A small hematite replacement of a garnet acts as an accent. There is also another larger crystal that crosses these two in the background that is 3.5 cm in length, but is unterminated and is heavily included with rhyolite matrix. The largest crystal here does have one (clean, lockfit) repair. This is a stunning gem crystal cluster of the classic gem Topaz from the high mountains of Utah that was collected by Doug in 1986. A superlative example of this classic find.
