A classic Elmwood calcite with golden amber color, gemminess, luster, and a sharp twin plane in the middle, this is truly a special display piece because of how the large crystal floats up and off of a well isolated matrix. Contrast of the rich deep amber color against white baryte is special, and uncommon at this size of a crystal. At 13 cm across, tip to tip, this is a good sized crystal! It is pristine, save only a small cleave or growth contact at the rear of the bottom termination (which you cannot see from the front, and is an extremely trivial technicality). For all intents and purposes, this is a rare pristine cabinet sized Elmwood from the heyday years. We obtained this and others here long ago from the long held private estate collection of Houston dealers Consie and Dalton Prince, who sold so much of this material in the 1980s-90s.
