A stunning specimen with a floating "jewel calcite" as the miners called them in the 1970s-1980s, floating up on matrix. This is classic Elmwood, from heyday years of the mine, and is a style unique and immediately recognizable to this location - not duplicated by China or any other locality. Here we see a complete, twinned, colorful, perfect all around jewel of a crystal floating in the air on a natural pedestal! It is gemmy - transparent to translucent, and much more so in person as the camera finds these hard to photograph because light goes through and reflects off the back faces as a gemstone would! The large crystal atop is 10 cm, 4 inches, tip to tip. It is shockingly pristine and complete. Matrix consists of a previous generation of calcite which formed first, and has a different color and more common, opaque to translucent style to it. We obtained this and others here long ago from the long held private estate collection of Houston dealers Consie and Dalton Prince, who sold so much of this material in the 1980s-90s.
