An exceptional matrix small cabinet specimen of Imperial Topaz on Quartz crystals from Ouro Preto, Brazil! This is THE classic and historic locality for these prized and distinctly colored Topaz crystals that define them as "Imperial" in shape and color, contrary to other world occurrences that claim the distinction. These are considerably more abundant as single crystals from here and are very rarely found on ANY matrix; and exceedingly rare on a Quartz crystal matrix! This fabulous piece features a two-inch, nearly limpid, superbly lustrous crystal of perfectly terminated, golden honey yellow color Topaz on a series of relatively large and clear to translucent Quartz crystals in parallel growth. Half of this extraordinary Imperial Topaz crystal actually stands off the Quartz crystal matrix, into the air! The topaz is repaired, and has some restoration (epoxy) on the right edge and at the site of repair to be noted (the work is exquisite, impossible to see unless under UV light). The Quartz crystals are turbid at the lower half and almost water-clear for the upper half, and vary in size from 3 inches to one-inch progressing from left to right. This notable Imperial Topaz specimen speaks for itself: sublime golden honey-yellow color with a beautiful luster, a perfect termination on one end and placement on the Quartz crystals for incredible composition and balance. One professional repair, and it displays upright and dramatically. This is from a freak small find in 2022, which we obtained.
