A stunning example of the gem translucent dioptase which came out of several pockets in the Kaokoveld area of Namibia, in modern era. This dioptase is much more translucent than old Tsumeb material, and some small gems have been been cut from the interior of such crystals as this. This is an elegant, perfect thumbnail specimen of competition quality, selected and kept by Marshall Sussman when he bought out Charlie Key's Kaokoveld collection stash. Charlie was one of the first dealers into this region of Namibia and brought in the specimen recovery knowledge and financing to open some of the mines now producing modern dioptase, in the early 2000s. He sold his stash of keepers from his dioptase projects to Marshall Sussman before he passed away, and this was one of the thumbnails present at that time. It is exceptionally dramatic in person.
