A large, translucent, glowing crystal fan-spray is the centerpiece of this thick specimen of almost solid olmiite from the Kalahari Manganese Fields. It is rich, solid, and unusually thick! Few specimens of this magnitude of robustness, in this size range, were found. This is an old specimen from the 2000s, collected by the official authorized collector for the mine owner at the time. It went into a stash that we later purchased from him at a Munich show, and has not been to market since. In person, it is gorgeous, but is hard to convey in photos and video. The material is very interesting in that it changes color with light temperature and angle, making it hard to photograph and video. It looks best simply in room or natural sunlight.
