A stout, textbook-shaped, translucent pink Ruby crystal from Macedonia - a rare and classic locality. This tabular, hexagonal (rhombohedral) crystal of ruby exhibits a translucent to opaque, medium pink color with a hint of purple in places. It's is a textbook crystal with well-developed pinacoid and pyramid faces, and these are shown in old textbooks and mineral monographs since antiquity. The faces and edges are relatively sharp and short wave UV light reveals its hidden beauty as it glows a nice orange, and in long-wave UV the crystal explodes with vibrant red pink color! This is a great pink ruby crystal with great crystallography. Contacted on the bottom. This beauty has a mass of 86.33 grams.
