Beautiful gemmy green Fluorites cascade down the front of this handsome piece from a new find at an old ore mine in Peru. The 1 to 2-cm octahedral Fluorites have minor cube modifications, are all gemmy, and glow with a vibrant, rich, sea-green color. They are modestly intergrown and add color and contrast to the piece as they are emplaced on a bright gray-white silicified matrix and associated with dark, brown-red, almost blackish, isolated crystals and clusters of 2 to 3 mm Sphalerite crystals. It sits nicely for display and only has a minor amount of contacting on the backside. A very aesthetic and well-balanced piece! This is from a find of the summer of 2020, now regarded as one of the most amazing fluorite finds ever, for the shocking green color! Until now, as they were leaking to the market, and had hoarded back many of ours waiting to see if more would come (only a few pockets came out over 2 years of quietly waiting). Note: some analysis has suggested the associations here are with geocronite, not just (or all) sphalerite. We have not analyzed the crystals on this specimen. It is likely that it is mostly geocronite (based on analysis of similar minerals we have seen - and this would add to the value, to some people), and minor sphalerite, mixed together.
