Fluorite
Minerva No. 1 Mine, Cave-In-Rock Mining Sub-Dist., Hardin Co., Illinois, USA
Small Cabinet, 8.4 x 6.7 x 4.6 cm
SOLD

A simple, textbook phantom fluorite crystal from the most famous of American fluorite finds, the Illinois mines which closed by the early 2000s. This crystal is big and showy for the price, and has an interesting rectangular phantom inside. It is not quite pristine, but also it is natural, not labbed to fill in the tiny dings with restoration as is so often done to these now that prices are going up (and, can still be done). It was simply cleaned quickly, out of an old collection we purchased, and left more natural in that regard. It shows textbook phantoms, yellow-in-purple color zoning, that made these mines so famous among collectors..
