This is what the locals called "jewel calcites" for the stunning deep color and clarity of the tips. This elongated and sharply twinned crystal exhibits great color, superb luster, and sharp form...all perched perfectly on a small shard of crystallized sphalerite matrix! Even when they came out in the mid 1980s (as the style seems to indicate here), specimens like this were not common at all, and jealousy hoarded by collectors. The crystal is perfect, complete all around. The twin plane is sharp and reflective. This is a superb example in the size range of what is not only one of the most classic finds from the USA, but a world class calcite locality by any standard.
