Stokesite is a rare calcium-tin silicate and the Urucum Claim has produced the best and most attractive specimens of the species. This elongate miniature has a gorgeous, 1.0 cm rosette of glassy stokesite crystals beautifully perched atop a cluster of white parallel-growth Cleavelandite blades. This particular piece is unusual in that it is a very attractive Stokesite matrix specimen; whereas many are just loose, single, tan to white Stokesite balls with or without matrix. This unusually elegant miniature (typical of the Gioia aesthetic in their collection) has, in addition to the Stokesite, several dozen, sparkling, less than 1 mm crystals of Stannomicrolite densely distributed on one side of the piece. These were from finds at the Urucum Pegmatite in the late 1990s and early 2000s and brought to market by Carlos Barbosa at the time. From the multigenerational Rolando and Bruno Gioia collection of Brazilian minerals
