Chalcocites from Flambeau are a classic USA find. While not long-lasting, the Flambeau mine produced briefly in the late 1990s and then was shut down and reclaimed but not before producing some of the finest chalcocite specimens to have come from North America. These chalcocites remain among the most desired of USA metallic species, and are among the most rare due to that short mining window. This was one of the world's most significant locations for the species. This piece displays blue and green iridescent colors, instead of the usual matte gray. Iridescent, intergrown crystals of chalcocite, form an attractive cluster. A great example for the species or US collector!
