Vertical, geometrically stacked and intergrown Fluorapatite crystals comprise this provocative piece from the Sapo pegmatite in Brazil. The Fluorapatites have a vitreous luster, verdant and variegated green color with individual crystals measuring 3.9cm in maximum dimension. Individual crystals are slightly flattened hexagons that have precise crystallographic arrangement resulting in an artistic, sculptural arrangement and upon looking down the long axis of the piece one notices a hollow, tube running from end to end...possibly an earlier formed Carbonate Apatite on which these Fluorapatites were formed and subsequently dissolved?! A visually appealing and fascinating piece!
