A GALENA FROM GALENA, among the rarest of legitimate historical American classics! From the collection of Eckley Coxe, a mining engineer, philanthropist and politician, who built his collection during the 1800's. This historic miniature is composed of intergrown cubes of Galena, creating a stepped pattern similar to a fortification habit, and the largest crystal is 1.5 cm on edge. This old-time specimen was also in the Paris School of Mines Collection, where Coxe once studied (he apparently donated his collection to his alma mater). Wonderful old labels, including one from the Paris School of Mines, are included. It remains on a solid putty mounting from the old museum display, as well.
