An OLD-TIME and very showy Tsumeb specimen of highly lustrous, dark navy-blue azurite crystals and velvet malachite after azurite crystals on green bayldonite matrix. The sprinkling of tiny cerussite crystals is a very nice accent. Definitely from the upper oxidized zone of this famous and now-closed mine. This old-timer was in the Carl Bosch and Smithsonian Collections and includes Carl Bosch's handwritten label. Carl Bosch was a very prominent European collector who lived from 1874-1940. The Smithsonian purchased his collection in 1965, which numbered 25, 000 mineral specimens! The Bosch label number of 8065 indicates an old piece. It's rich in crystals of high quality - he never collected junk.
