- Thumbnail, 2.9 x 1.8 x 0.7 cm
- Ex. Alex Schauss
As a thumbnail collector, Alex Schauss always gravitated to specimens that showed extreme and sharp geometry in a small space, to better catch the eye and stand out from the crowd of other examples, particularly for common species such as azurite. This is one of those dramatic and eye catching specimens, for the shape more than for the species! It is a pair of lustrous dark blue crystals forming a crossed X shape, very dramatic. Specimens like this really make a thumbnail collection pop out at the viewer, as the human eye really focuses on sharp shape sand geometrical precision first even before you would think it is an azurite or consider the location. Complete all around!
