This is an attractive small cabinet specimen of natural, intensely blue Topaz, of which the color alone makes it rare. The rich, bright sky-blue Topaz crystal is partly gem, but mostly translucent and has one series of parallel oriented faces that are lustrous and you can see into the crystal a little ways on the larger face, the remainder of the crystal is etched and in places has sparkly patches of Cookeite, an uncommon lithium-bearing Chlorite Group species. It is not quite complete on the edges, with some cleaves on the sides, but it is complete on the display face and simply looks gorgeous set on a shelf. It has a very strong color! This is from the multigenerational family collection of the Gioia family of Sao Paulo. Old material from the 1990s or early 2000s.
