Gold (twinned)
Santa Elena de Uairen, Bolivar, Venezuela
Thumbnail, 1.9 x 0.8 x 0.4 cm
Ex. Shields and Frances Flynn

An exquisitely sharp, floater crystal of gold shooting off an elongated spinel-twinned gold crystal. The whole thing is perfect and complete all around, 360 degrees. We have seen hundreds of these over the last few decades since they came out in the late 1990s and early 2000s (as did this one), and this would be, for the sharpness of form and style, one of the finer thumbnails we have seen in a long time. It has a machine-sharp aesthetic quality to it, whereas many of these over 1 cm start to show deformity or the crystals get hoppered.
