A bright, translucent, emerald-green gem of a fluorite twin is perched aesthetically in the top section of this specimen. It measures 2.4 cm wide and lays on a bed of white aragonite with several other smaller green fluorite twins. The only blemish is a small natural crack through both crystals of the large twin, but that could potentially be sent to a professional lab to be fixed. With some light behind the specimen, there are some interesting yellow zones within the largest crystals, a phenomenon seen in numerous other examples from the Queen of Green pocket. In addition to the contrast between the gorgeous gemmy green fluorites and the bright white aragonite, these pieces are incredibly daylight fluorescent, changing from a bright green color to a brilliant blue-green in the smallest amount of sunlight. The effect is greatly amplified with a UV light but is not required to enjoy the UV characteristics of these pieces. This is from the new workings at the so-called Diana Maria mine, a specimen recovery operation started in 2017 at the western extension of the classic Rogerley quarry locality. It was originally priced at $5000 by the dealer bringing the pocket to market. We are pleased to announce that we made a sizable purchase of the stashed material from this find, which had been put away before COVID, and so we are now able to offer them years later and at half the original asking prices!
