The Brandberg area of Namibia has produced an abundance of amethyst in a wide variety of styles. This fine small cabinet piece from the locality consists of a group of about eight handsome and lustrous amethyst crystals up to 3.2 cm clustered on a white quartz matrix. The amethysts have a beautiful deep purple color that is variegated within the crystals from a light purple to a rich, grape purple and each crystal is different! The larger amethyst crystal and the one in front of it have a pale purple interior that varies from transparent to translucent with points and edges that are distinctly dark, grape purple. The other large crystal to the left has the inky purple distributed similarly at the termination and edges, however, the interior looks as though purple ink was squirted into it randomly. This attractive amethyst cluster is set on a sliver of ivory-white quartz matrix for great contrast. Carl Acosta/Mineral Maniacs label.
