Elbaite Tourmaline

A sumptuous, totally gem and lustrous, polychrome tourmaline from recent finds in a small gem-rough claim near to Coronel Murta, Brazil. This is one of the most significant and beautiful Brazilian Tourmaline singles of this size class to be recovered in recent years, in our opinion - it just stands out. This crystal displays amazing colors that starts with an exquisite pale peachy orange, 2cm zone at the base that transitions to another 2cm thick, delicate pale green zone and the remainder of the crystal is a somewhat variegated pink to medium rose color all the way through to the termination. This Elbaite crystal is gem throughout its length with veiled, horizontal inclusions. It also displays a very fine and sharp pyramidal termination and the prism faces are nicely striated giving the piece additional character. It has one unusual repair of a loose vertical shard 2-3mm thick, but found loose in the pocket and shown to lock back in later to the back side. Note that nearly all the remaining contents of this pocket went to a friend in the gem trade for cutting - only a few survived to reach our market. Comes with a custom acrylic base. 122 grams
