Calcite
Magma Mine, Superior, Pinal Co., Arizona, USA
Miniature, 4.4 x 4.0 x 3.6 cm
SOLD

Magma Mine is famous among USA collectors but sadly all too few specimens survived. This is a very beautiful piece featuring two glistening spherical aggregates of translucent, ivory-colored Calcite well placed on a brown gossan matrix for great contrast. This great miniature has great composition with the two spheres just barely touching and the larger one measures 2.1cm across and the smaller 1.8cm across and both have great luster with the myriad of terminations that compose each of the spheres reflecting all incident light which makes them glisten! And if they aren't attractive enough, they fluoresces a very vivid red in short wave UV light! Specimens from the Magma Mine are not at all common on the market and this piece comes with two labels: one from the Bob Wilton collection and one from Arizona Minerals noting "Collected in 1981 by Mark Hay."
