Fluorite with Quartz and Chlorite
St. Gotthard road tunnel, Uri/Tessin Cantons, Switzerland
Small Cabinet, 5.8 x 5.6 x 4.7 cm

A stunning Swiss fluorite from a highly unusual locality, the tunnel dig between these two cantons in Switzerland, circa 1980. This came out of an old Swiss collection through an American collector, recently. This specimen shows off a classic octahedral, lustrous and translucent, vivid pink fluorite crystal, measuring 4.8 cm in length. it is perched nicely on a 4 cm long colorless quartz crystal and a bit of granite matrix. A minor dusting of chlorite is present. Swiss fluorites are not known generally for such sparkle and color saturation - this one REALLY stands out.
