Small Cabinet, 6.0 x 2.4 x 1.4 cm
Ex. Howard Belsky
SOLD
This large miniature-small cab is literally the textbook example of a classic elegant silver wire from Kongsberg! It is thick and ropey, with great curving character and a subtly-colored patina to it. Wonderfully perched on massive, white calcite is a thick curving and twisting wire of somewhat lustrous native silver, measuring 5.9 cm in length. The specimen exhibits all the classic attributes of the best silvers from the world's premier silver locality, in this size range and price range. This piece was in an East Coast mineral auction in 1908 (the label of $6.00 dates to 1908, and this format was seen on all the old specimens which came down to me through Belsky with his notes on the previous auction). The core of that collection was sold to another collector and later was passed on as part of the Howard Belsky collection which we purchased some years back.
