Epidote on Quartz
Pampa Blanca, Ica Department, Peru
Cabinet, 10.0 x 9.2 x 4.5 cm
Ex. Dr. Art Soregaroli
SOLD

What a beautiful and dramatic specimen! This spray of lustrous, well-terminated Epidote crystals is perched right on a cluster of silky Quartz crystals! The longest of the deep green Epidotes is 8 cm, while the largest Quartz crystal is 7 cm. The main Epidotes are in excellent condition, as are the Quartzes. Naturally, many of the minor Epidote needles elsewhere on the specimen were broken off, as is just one of the Quartz tips in the back. There are options as to how to display this cluster, and the measurements written down are for the specimen being displayed in a 'V'. This is a really an elegant and aesthetic combination specimen, and much better in person, as the stark contrast between dark and light made it difficult to shoot. From the mid-90s. Art made many trips to Peru and was in fact editor of the magnum opus book on Minerals of Peru. His Peru suite of minerals was regarded as one of the best for breadth and documentation.
