This highly unusual example of a "bluecap" elbaite crystal from Afghanistan exibits a range of lovely colors starting with a 1 mm thick shiny bluecap termination, grading downward to a 4 mm thick light sky blue layer, then to an 8 mm thick bright apple green, and finally to a pinkish purple through the lower 2/3 of the crystal. It is lustrous and translucent to gemmy throughout the crystal. This color palette is very seldom seen from any tourmaline mine, especially the Afghani locales. The crystal is complete all around and fully terminated although it has a slightly offset/angled face on one back edge. 120 grams.
