Lazurite
Sar-e-Sang, Kokscha Valley, Badakshan Province, Afghanistan
Toenail, 3.1 x 3.1 x 1.5 cm
Ex. Herb Obodda
SOLD
A sharp, first-rate Lazurite crystal, with top color for this normally rock-forming material (often referred to as Lapis Lazuli) from the classic ancient locality. This freestanding, 2.2 cm crystal stands up beautifully from the matrix, and is complete on the front side. The back is not quite complete, as it is contacted where it grew against something. This was the "stone of kings" since before Biblical times. Very fine aesthetics - an excellent toenail (large thumbnail or small miniature) specimen.
