Kongsberg, Buskerud, Norway
Miniature, 3.7 x 2.5 x 1.8 cm

Silver from Norway is one of the true great classics for the species, and this is a textbook "rope" with very thick intergrown wires in a biomorphic arrangement. The patina has lots of nice, subtle contrasts and minor tones to the color. The piece is complete all around, and looks equally good on either side, or upside down. It is hard to choose a display angle I like best! For such a thick, meaty Kongsberg, one would normally be paying in the $4-5k range. This, however, was a lucky find in an old collection.
