Pretty much ANY Japanese specimens of quality are hard to get these days, be they rhodochrosites, stibnites or any of the other quite limited collector-quality specimens that have come from there. This topaz is much rarer than even those are. It is from the noted collection of gem crystal specialist Gene Meieran (and still with both the Meieran label and one from a Japanese dealer). It is a very gemmy, glass-like crystal, complete and with fine form. Hard to photograph, so a lot better in person, particularly the transparency. It has a small area of contact on the back side. Weight is 22 grams.
