Here we have an excellent matrix Sapphire specimen that came out of Pakistan last year. The crystal on this particular specimen is a fine quality, very sharp, lustrous, well formed, gemmy crystal of a fine purplish color aesthetically sitting atop Calcite matrix. I haven't seen many specimens of this material on the market in recent years, so I was very happy to obtain this piece. The Sapphire crystal does a color shift from purplish in indoor lighting to more of a pure purple color outdoors. These specimens are not coming out nearly as frequently as they have in the past, and they are definitely commanding very high prices on the market today, as are all fine Sapphire specimens from all world localities.
