This sparkling, attractive specimen highlights a stunning GEM, transparent crystal with the most incredible luster I have yet seen from this locale, and up there amongst all fluorites, period. The fluorite is perched on dramatic, curving leaves of lollingite crystals, which also sparkle. The transparency and luster and brightness...it is just unbelievable and hard to capture in photos, as the camera has trouble focusing through the completely colorless fluorite crystal. So while the photos are sharp, it is just not possible to convey the complexity of three-dimensionality that the human eye discerns. I have bought hundreds of fluorites from this locality, and this would rank among the very best for sheer quality of the crystal. It was mined in mid-2014. The crystal is 3.25 cm across, or about 2.5 cm on edges. It is highly modified and is cuboctahedral in shape. No damage! Joe Budd photos.
