Ludlamite in sharp crystals of this caliber is well known from the old finds in Bolivia, more recently from large finds in Brazil (though of a different style of crystal shape); and very very rarely from a few other localities in the world. This is from one of those exceptions, where most people have never seen a good ludlamite. These were found in one famous pocket in Mexico in the early 1980s, and at the time the few best were considered best of species, along with best of the Bolivian material. This elegant, balanced miniature is complete on both sides, with sharp and elegant, lustrous crystals to 2.4 cm, perched right atop. It is literally as if nature gave us the illusion of carved textbook ludlamite crystals sitting up on a glistening siderite pedestal. It really is complete all around. From the well known collection of Mel and Grace Dyck, longtime collectors specializing in aesthetics above all else. They were mineral dealers who once lived in Wyoming and kept a small but choice private collection. Custom lucite base is included.
