This large plate of apple green Smithsonite is shocking for the size, for ANY location. However, green is also among the rarest of colors of Smithsonite (colored by copper), from any location - and particularly from Greece. The piece is notable for the size, pristine condition of the display face, and elegance of display with all of the interesting surface contour and shape. It is complete, with no repairs. When you think of Greek Smithsonite specimens, you most often think of muted colors and small pieces... but this is a monster of a plate! One of the largest specimens kept in the Spiromitros personal collection as he bought pockets to keep a few and sell the rest over many years, this was found in 2015 and in the collection since that time. It is a significant large green smithsonite for any location - being from Greece is simply an extra bonus for rarity.
