Outstanding pseudomorph/epimorph from the Jean Baptiste Mine in Lavrion, not well known for Smithsonite but famous for Gypsum and other minerals. The golden yellow Smithsonite is botryoidal (rounded), highly lustrous and silky and is so translucent that backlighting causes it to simply glow, which then reveals the detailed layering of its growth. The Smithsonite replaced and grew around the original Selenite as a cast, and then mounded up atop the casts, so the unusual features and style here makes this attractive piece even more interesting and desirable. Found in 2016. Unique!
