Jeremejevite is an uncommon alumino-borate found in select pegmatite environments, rarely in good crystals or of gem quality. Such crystals as this are known from only a few pockets, since discovery of the species in Namibia. This is a great rough and cut set from the Erongo region in Namibia consisting of a completely gem, glassy lustered, pale sky-blue one-inch Jeremejevite crystal. This gorgeous little crystal is slightly variegated with the bottom three-fourths a pale sky-blue and the top quarter a very pale blue with an absolutely perfect pyramidal termination. There is even a 1 cm sidecar crystal growing slightly parallel to the main crystal for added interest and aesthetics. The carat weight of this crystal is 3.32 ct (despite being a full sized thumbnail gem crystals, they simply do not weigh much due to aluminum and boron contents). To complete the set, there is a stunning, flawless, 0.33 carat, elongated, emerald cut faceted gem - a rare match! Ex. Shields Flynn thumbnail collection. This is quite good, a better quality than most, for luster and clarity. The gem is probably a free bonus in this set.
