A fine, sharp, crystallized gold specimen from one of the most remote and hard to obtain crystallized gold localities, the mines on Mount Kare in Papua New Guinea. This is just perfection, with sharp crystals and a top color, complete all around. While I cannot prove it, I believe this is from a particular batch of fine specimens that hit the market in the late 1990s, and it has long been in the collection of Tim Sherburn. For somebody who wants a truly fine gold thumbnail, robust crystals, and color - and does not want a more common California specimen — this could be the one.
