Intensely color-saturated with a neon palette of almost purplish blue color, this azurite rose has crystals that reach over 2 cm in length. It is a sharp, robust, extremely fine example of the classic Azurite Roses that came out of Stan Esbenshade's mining projects in Morenci in the 1980s (in partnership with the mine owner). This was one of the few specimen recovery operations in Morenci, and this was one of the best finds of the era. This piece is a complete floater, just a bit sharper and more colorful than the rest, about as good as you can ask for the size. Avila had a shelf of gorgeous azurite roses from classic localities that he worked diligently to get over decades.
